The Last Precinct by Patricia Cornwell

The Last Precinct by Patricia Cornwell

This is the eleventh book in the murder mystery series starring Dr. Kay Scarpetta, Chief Medical Officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia. This book brings us to the start of the Twenty-First century, and is a very good addition to the series.

This book begins right where the previous book, Black Notice, left off. A criminal is in custody, but there are questions about Scarpetta’s role in his capture, and about her connections to earlier murders. Scarpetta’s niece Lucy (now twenty-eight) is on Administrative Leave from ATF. As the plot becomes even more complicated, with more murders, Scarpetta’s life is turned upside down, and her professional life and reputation are in jeopardy.

I very much enjoyed reading this book, which is very much a sequel to Black Notice. As there were a few loose ends not resolved by the end of this book, I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
