The Gangster by Clive Cussler and Justin Scott, Read by Scott Brick

This book is the ninth book in this adventure series featuring Isaac Bell, one of the chief detectives in the Van Dorn Agency at the turn of the 20th century.  We listened to the audio book while on vacation, and enjoyed this book very much.

In 1906 New York, the Italian Black Hand is terrorizing Italian businesses with kidnapping and extortion. One of the businesses hires the Van Dorn Detective Agency, and Isaac Bell finds that he tecognizes an Italian grocer, who now holds the contract to provide food to the Italian workers on the Catskill Aqueduct, as someone he once met years ago. As Bell investigates the Black Hand, he discovers a plot to kill one of the most important men in the country.

I enjoyed listening to this book, and will look forward to listening to the next book in the series on our next vacation.
