We have no Saints to honor today, so instead we note that the Battle of Jumonville Glen, arguably the first battle of the French and Indian War (involving one of Richard’s many-times great uncles on one side, and a young George Washington on the other) occurred in Pennsylvania on this date in 1754, and led to the only time Washington ever surrendered two months later.
