Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, a celebration of Mary’s motherhood of Jesus and a Holy Day of Obligation (but see below). Today is also The World Day of Peace. It is the Eighth Day of Christmas (without birds, for a change) and the first day of the Civil Year of 2017. (And may we all be more civil to each other this year.) Today is the Federal Holiday for New Year’s Day, and today is the Citrus Bowl presented by Overton’s, a College Football Bowl Game featuring our #17 LSU Tigers versus the #14 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
